i think my ip address has been hijacked what can i do? i run winxp home sp2

What makes you think they have been hijacked?

Do you have static IP addresses?

Have you contacted your ISP?

are you on a wireless router or anything? If so you should have WEP secuity/password.

i think it may have been hijacked because i had a message supposedly from microsoft saying that thet had changed it, to cure problems

It is unlikely that MS would email you directly.

Yup, a malware infection of some kind. Microsoft never emails people like that.
