Inverters for laptop screens

I bought an Acer 3610 laptop off eBay but shortly afterwards the screen packed in. The original screen is a Toshiba but a brand new Samsung screen that would fit appeared on eBay for a good price so I bought it, since I've had the same Samsung LCD screen on my desktop PC for years and it as been great. Now it's arrived the inverter fitting is slightly strange. due to difference in dimensions as well as cable connectors, the laptop will not accept the new inverter. However, the old inverter will connect to the new screen perfectly and as far as I can tell everything will be fine. However, I just want to check that it's not going to blow my new screen or anything. Do I have anything to worry about or can I just plug it in and it will work?

For what it's worth, the codes are as follows-
Old screen: LG Philips LP154W01
New screen: Samsung LTN154X1-L01
Both are WXGA

P.S. Just realised I got the original manufacturer wrong, it's not Toshiba it's LG Philips soz
