Internet security

Hi folks.
Just set up BT broadband and was wondering about a security package.
Do i just simply buy and install products such as Norton 2005, or is this over the top. Has anyone tried the disc supplied with last months advisor magazine etc.

Okay, had a clear out & must have binned the disc by accident (usually keep them, honest). I use Zonealarm firewall & AVG anti-virus. Both free, not had any problems. Also use Spywareblaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-aware, Spyware Doctor & CW Shredder (again, all free). That little lot has kept my PC running squeaky clean.

Spuds has covered everything, I think.

I would buy the security components separately because no one manufacturer is good at everything.

I use F-Secure anti virus, Zone Alarm plus the free spyware catchers that xphile describes. Norton can slow some machines and is difficult to get rid of if you don't like it

AVG, a firewall, Adaware and MS Antispy are more than enough.

Thanks all for response.
Aparrently the Voyager 205 ADSL router that came with my package already includes a firewall.
The Norton security system retails at about £45.
Therefore i might try the free ones first
