Internet Problem

I have a problem that just wont go away. Whenever I connect to the net, I can only connect to a few sites before I get the 'this page cannot be displayed' screen. If i disconnect and re-connect I can get back on for a few links but again get the dreaded cannot display page. I am looking at a variety of sites so it is not a problem with the sites. I'm running XP with updated Norton and AGV 7 both of which say I do n ot have a virus. I have tried runing Spybot which found stuff but didn't help. Any suggestions out there?

Try disabling one of the AntiVirus programs, multiple AV progs rarely cohabit smoothly and clashes run from disruptions like this to system crashes and lock-ups.

Hi, would advise using only one AV, recommend AVG which you have. What Firewall do you use? I would advise Zone Alarm, sounds to me more like a Firewall rather than AV problem. But I am only guessing.

This backs-up what I was saying about Firewall.

ps - don't worry about all the 'gobbledygook', just use the 'Click-here'. Cheers.

Decided to do a complete re format and windows reload. As I was updating Norton I got several virus so I repeated the process but used a disk to load a recent AGV prior to updating the Norton. This seems to have done the trick. Still running Norton and AGV and have also now got Outpost firewall. Fingers crossed!!!
