Internet not connecting after pc left idle

My PC wont connect to the internet when left idle for a while - usually after about an hour or so.

I have a wireless router, and all I get is the cant detect network settings screen. Nothing works and I have to restart the PC to be able to get it to work again.

A point to note, I could be downloading something at the same time, which means the connection is still open, its just that internet explorer does not want to know.

I have no power save settings active apart from the monitor switches itself off after 20 minutes of no use.

Any ideas? Is it something to do with my internet explorer setings?

this could be a setting in your network connection or possibly the router itself.

if you are using USB Connections it could be that it is getting powered of when not in use.
go to
Control panel/
system/hardware/
device manager/
universal serial bus/
then right click each item properties/
then the tab power management/
then untick the box (Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power).
this will not show in all usb devices but it is there for root hubs and some others.

If you using a Lan card go Device Manager-Network Adapter-right click on the network card-Properties-

Power Management- un tick the box -Allow the computer to turn of the this device
