Internet Explorer stalls on every web page

Didn't know how best to describe this problem, which began suddenly yesterday on my other pc. When I launch IE, it opens the home page ok (Yahoo), and I can then open up my usual favourites (e.g. streetmap, pcadvisor, network rail, home banking, etc...) but whenever these pages are displayed, IE then locks up - I notice the small Internet Explorer symbol at top left of the screen is replaced by an icon of a blank screen and I have to cancel - I get a msg saying IE was not responding. So effectively, I can't do anything on that pc. It was working fine beforehand. Have run virus checker - nothing found. Any ideas what is wrong? I'm running IE7 under XP.

If it doesn't lock up, try this:

Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts click here

Or try a System Restore back to when it was working ok.

BurrWalnut - many thanks. Turns out it was a Skype browser extension causing it. I installed Skype a couple of days ago.

Technotiger - I had already tried a system restore. I don't know if I went back to pre-Skype, would this have been de-installed?
