When I try to open Internet Explorer I get this message...............................................

Runtime error!

Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

......................................................

What does this mean and more importantly how can i fix it???

Thanks!

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click on Tools, then on Internet Options.

3. Click on the Advanced tab.

4. Look for the "Disable script debugging" line and put a check mark in the box.

5. Now look for the "Display a notification about every script error" line and remove the check mark in the box.

I fear you've got a virus, time for a reformat and reinstallation, I think.

Did you ever solve the problem?

I have just posted the identical problem.

My work round is to install and use Mozilla Firefox which works just as well as Internet Explorer and does not seem to be affected

It can be related to google toolbar if you have this
uninstall it and try again....
