Internet Explorer offered to scan my computer!

I shut it down too quickly to take in the details, but McAfee warned me of spyware. Anyone else had it?

Any pop up which offers to scan your computer is to be viewed with suspicion. Steer clear and close them down.

It starts to scan and download even when you click Cancel.

If you see this, sounds like time to back up your data if not done already and do a clean re-install

Spybot should get rid of it. I had WinFixer trying to load itself in the other week, and used Spybot.

Try doing a Full system scan with defender, if something's bypassed the live protection, maybe a full manual will pick it up.

Full scans with Spybot and Defender found nothing.
