Internet Explorer Not Working

When I launch IE, it refuses to load. IT just hangs with the loading text at the bottom stating loading click here.

After a while a windows error message reports that the website is unavailable which is nonsence because it loads fine in Mozilla.

I also had Outlook problems but these have been resolved by re-installing Office 2003.

I have switched off IE through the add/remove tools and then switch it on again but it made no difference

I don't have the CD. XP came pre-installed on the machine. I only have a MESH restore disc

Can somebody suggest something else? The suggested fix requires the CD and I don't have it as mentioned.

try the alternative method as in VoG link

Both methods relating to XP require the CD

Have a read here click here method 2 is probably the way to go.

I amended the registry value for 1 to 0.

When I rebooted, a message appeared saing IE would be removed.

But it was still there and the problem remains

Yes but have you downloaded and installed IE6 from the link, the Registry tweak should allow you to do this.

Ok I looked at the notes again and see that I was supposed to Download IE6 SP1. But then it states that this is the best thing if you are NOT running XP. I am running XP

What are your thoughts based on this?
