Internet Explorer & FTP problem

  slowhand_1000 21:09 08 Mar 2004

IE 5.5, W98se

As well as using ftp through Dreamweaver I also used to use Internet Explorer to ftp files to my hosting server by the drag and drop method.

Suddenly I find that when I type the ftp address into IE I get 'Page cannot be displayed'

When I checked Tools/Internet Options and select Advanced tab, in the Browsing section I noticed that the option 'Enable folder view for FTP sites' is no longer there.

I have tried running the Repair IE tool but still no joy. Anyone any ideas?

Ooops just saw it as I posted. Try reinstalling Internet Explorer. Check on Mag CD's and game CD's.

Just a thought have you got a firewall running if so it may be causing the trouble.

I have a firewall on a lan running but the other 2 pc's on the lan can use the drag and drop method to ftp files. They both have the option in their settings that is missing on here.

I will try a reinstall, I just thought there might be another way to re-establish the missing option.
