Internet Explorer closes down

  kawak 20:24 31 Mar 2009

Everytime I log into Facebook, a message comes up saying that 'Internet Explorer has stopped working'.
It tries to re-open 3 times and then closes down completely.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? It only happens with facebook - all other sites are ok.

It started happening about a week ago and at the time I was using IE7. I've downloaded IE8 but the problem still exists.

Any help would be great. Cheers.

I have almost same problem and also only on facebook, main page opens but when signing in it comes up with "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and nedds to shut down" then page is recovered but same problem if trying to sign in again.
All other sites are ok.
Tried compatibility mode but didn't help.

1) Go to "Tools" under IE

2) Select "Internet Options"

3) Go to "Programs" tab

4) Click on "Manage add-ons"

5) Search for Facebook and delete the ActiveX Control (may have to nagivate the "Show" dropdown list) - click OK.

6) Go back to Facebook and it will prompt you to re-install the ActiveX Control

7) Done

Thanks Sea Urchin,

Will give it a go as soon as I get home and let you know.

Tried but facebook is not appearing in there. All I got is Toolbars & extensions, search providers, inprivate filtering and accelerators, there is no trace of facebook in any of them, actually not a lot in there anyway.
No "Show" dropdown menu either, where should this appear?
