Internet Explorer can not open the search page

I the above message when I key in any page to visit.

I have had to restore the PC using the restore disks. The modem connects ok but I can't open any pages.

Any ideas please, Thanks

Try WinsockFix. Works wonders for me always loosing Search Page

No, I've only installed the restore disk and the modem drivers. Since then, I've formatted HDD, restored system, installed IE6 from PCA cover disk. Still no joy.

As far as I can see everything is clean, but don't understand the problem.

Check Antivirus/firewall {if you have one}settings then check your ie settings tools>ie options also check your isp settings.

Thank you to you all for your input, I managed to download winsock2 Fix from a Boston site, ran it and "Volla", problem cured.
