internet explorer 8 problem

  squashman 11:33 30 Apr 2009

Running vista ultimate.
Have just installed ie8, not sure yet if improvement or not.
Problem I am having is with the mouse, a microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000, which has always been excellent, having 5 programmable buttons. One is 'back', which still works ok, and another is 'close' which works on some pages but will no longer close any pages online ie homepage.
Only a small problem I know but having got used to using it I find it very annoying.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting the button assignments.

Have you tried setting the "close" function to another button? It might be the button that's playing up!
Did this problem start after you installed IE8?
If so I would try uninstalling IE8 which will revert you back to IE7 and see if the problem righted itself!

I was having similar problems with ie8 plus a few other things, and in the end decided it was more trouble than it was worth plus the fact on my pc it used nearly twice as much resources than ie7 and did a worse job,imo another rushed program by MS to try and keep up with the competition.

Like ACOLYTE, I have found IE 8 more trouble than it is worth.
I have happily reverted to IE 7.
