Internet Explorer 7 & Homepage

  opta55 15:09 05 Dec 2006

I have installed IE 7 and the homepage keeps defaulting back to MSN.

You can change it in Tools,Internet Options & General to either'use blank' or another website & accept it but whem you go back into IE the next time it is still set to MSN

This of course is not much help to you - but I had a similar problem, there were also other things about IE7 that were problematic.
In the end (like a few other folks on this forum)I uninstalled IE7, and reverted back to the tried and tested, old faithful IE6.

When I try to uninstall IE7 that is the only version of the IE programme I can find in the Control panel list. If I delete IE7 will I have lost the old IE6 as well?

If you uninstall IE7 it will revert back to IE6, but do not be hasty. I suspect that the reason it is reverting to MSN is that you have a security program such as spybot and the box not to allow any changes to your home page is ticked. Usually it says "Lock Homepage"

I have removed IE7 & it has now reverted to IE6 but the homepage is still being set to MSN. Any more thoughts on how to stop this.

Do you have Zone Alarm installed?

Also check if you have Adaware installed.

Open Adaware/click on the Yellow Cog top right and select Defaults.

Does the Default settings say msn com

I don't have Zone Alarm or Adaware installed

The URL when internet explorer opens is as follows :

Sorry the URl that comes up when IE6 is loaded is :

In Internet options the address is :

When I change this to 'use blank' or add in an actual internet address click on apply & then OK the next time it is loaded the adres reverts back to the above.
