I am having problems with IE5. When I try to connect to IE or outlook express I am getting various error messages such as 'This programme has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down' and 'An error has occurred in your program. Iexplore caused a general protection fault in module GDI.EXE etc'. Would appreciate any advice.

What operating system are you running, you've probably been overlooked because this could be lots of things. The "various other messages" will also help.

Just as a pointer GDI.EXE can cause problems when printing from the net. It can also be because you are using a VGA video adaptor driver and your missing some files.

Depending on your OS you can also run scanreg /restore

Hi, I am using Windows 95 4.00.950B and IE 5 5.50.4522.1800. I have not been printing nor do I have a video adapter driver. The error message says Iexplore caused a general protection fault in module GDI.EXE at 0003:000007fc. This happens each time I try to connect to IE or outlook express. The programme then shuts down. The only way I can connect to the internet at the moment is through the dial up network icon on my desk top.

When you try to print a Web page from Internet Explorer 5.5 by using a Hewlett Packard (HP) DeskJet 932C, 930, 950 or 970 printer, you may receive the following error message:

IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault in Module GDI.EXE at 0007:000007ed
NOTE: The 12 digits at the end of the error message may vary.

To be honest its a pig of a problem and you cant upgrade to IE6. You could try Add/Remove Programs Double click Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Click Repair Internet Explorer, you might get lucky.

Most people think you can't use Scanreg with Win95, you can, it's just a case of copying the files from Win98 or downloading the software from the site above.

Do not think it work's in 95, I would be inclined to rerun IE5 setup from a CD
