internet connection

my desktop pc is connected to the internet via ntl broadband
i have just bought a laptop if i unplug the cable from my pc and plug into my laptop will it work ? with the same settings as my desktop ?

Yes, Provided you use any necessary drivers for the modem.

If you are using the ethernet connection it should be a simple switchover. If you are using USB you may need to load drivers from the original installation CD onto the laptop.

You will still have to set up your email accounts, if you have them, on the laptop separately though.

If you mean can you share your cable connection between the 2 machines, no, you would have to connect a router in addition to the modem to be able to do this.

As the laptop is new it will have a network socket, I would suggest you connect using that as it's a lot less hassle, as I said before, just plug in and go.
