Intel or AMD for Nvidia gaming PC?

Hello, the primary chioces are:

Intel Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-950 (3.06GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache
ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI
4GB CORSAIR XMS3 DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 2GB KIT)
1280MB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX470 GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11

OVERCLOCKED AMD PHENOM II X6 1090T (3.20GHz @ MAX 3.80GHz)
ASUS® M4N98TD EVO: DDR3, 2-Way SLI, SATA 3.0GB/s
4GB CORSAIR XMS3 DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 2GB KIT)
1280MB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX470 GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11

With all other aspects being equal and bearing in mind a possible second graphics card later on, any thoughts on which may be better? Costs are similar.

I know the ASUS® M4N98TD EVO does not have USB3 or SATA6, but you can get add on cards for this. The only 'hassle' is that I will only be able to get SATA3 hard drives with it as part of teh build.

Choices, choices!

Any thoughts would be appreciated. There are sacrifices to each system to keep costs similar, for example the Intel one its a single 1GB HDD (but Sata6) but for the AMD I could have two 750mb mirrored (but Sata3).

Thanks.

Purely on the hdd's alone I would choose the twin 750's,that way if something goes wrong you have backup.
As to whether AMD or Intel is better for gaming,I love my games, mainly FPS's and have played mainly on AMD chips. My current rig,a self build is an i5 with twin HD 5770's and runs all my games maxed.

There isn't much difference between the chips, compare here click here
There isn't much of a performance increase with sata 6,so I would go for your second choice.

its best to get one good card hd5870 or gtx480. i think there are new cards in the pipeline, so you only have one to replace.
