Intel Dual Core - performance comparison

I'm looking at upgrading my motherboard and CPU. I have a choice of two at the moment - both Intel Pentium D dual cores: 1 is 2.8Ghz x2 (5.6Ghz) and the other is 3.4Ghz x2 (6.8Ghz). This may sound like a stupid question but would there be a huge performance differnce between these two CPUs or would it be mainly dependant on the rest of the system?

The system also consists of:

2GB DDR PC2700 RAM
Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB AGP 8x graphics
HDDs are currently IDE

The system is used a lot for audio, video and photo editing.

Any help appreciated.

I dont think you would see a great difference but i would go for the 3.4 x 2.

If your board can take the E6300 or even the E6600,i would most certainly go for that.

the E6300 and the newer E4300 aren't in the chart; I've been waiting weeks for them to update them.
