Greetings to all
Fourm Members

I have been experiencing severe problems
with trying to connect my Sony Centrino laptop
to my Broadband router, which means I can not
surf.
I received the following error message;
"Windows could not connect to the BT Homehub Network" Windows will keep trying.

Needless to say I had to contact BT Tech support, but despite their best efforts, I was still unable to connect to the internet.

I do hope someone can help.

Many thanks

Rogmur

How are you trying to connect? Wireless or Ethernet. What kind of Modem Router do you have?

Hi There Woodchip

Thanks for your response.

I have a BT HomeHub 5788.
I was on the phone to BT Tech support in India,
(And I found them very helpful and thorough).

But it seems I can no longer connect to my Hub using my Sony Vaio (Centrino) and it seems even using an
Ethernet cable.

I do hope it is not a faulty Laptop.

Kind regards
Rogmur

You say " no longer connect " this means you could before ...have you installed any new software before this happened ? Did BT helpline get you to do a Winsock repair on the laptop ? Have you tried a system restore to before this happened ? If you want to try a Winsock repair I can give you the details if you like , if you feel confident and don't mind a bit of registry dabbling .

Hi Ashley

Many thanks for the offer of help.
Last week I could connect my laptop via Wi Fi no problem. Occasionally it would drop a connection so I would have to restart the laptop.

However, since Monday no Wi Fi connection at all.
I did wonder whether it could be recently installed software, so have done a System restore.

The BT support did do a winsock repair in the command module, however it did not work
the IP remained as 0.0.0.0

But I would be very grateful if you could post details of the winsock procedure again so I could have another attempt.

Once again many thanks Ashley

Regards

Rogmur
