Intel Celeron 2.6GHz and 2.4GHz

In System Properties in WinXP the CPU shows as Intel Celeron 2.6GHz then underneath it shows 2.4GHz

Can someone please explain why its showing two different speed for me for my friend who thinking he's been ripped off with a refurbished machine he bought.

I thought dual core but then 2.6 & 2.4 are odd not even cores.

You sure the second Ghz is not Ram

I wouldn't trust Windows System Properties alone for the correct CPU info.

Try a few other tools to determine what it really is:
CPU-Z click here
SIW click here. Run the standalone version & look under Hardware > CPU Info.

Thanks woodchip & Crossbow7

Sorry, its got 2.6GHz twice in system properties and in BIOS its got 2.6Ghz. Must have been seing things.

Why does it show 2.6GHz twice then ?

System properties shows the processor name (eg Intel Celeron 2.6ghz) followed by the speed it's currently working at (eg 2.6ghz).

That explains it, now I got to explain to him.
