Installing Windows7 on an external HDD

  arminmckidd 17:11 27 Oct 2009

Iv got an ISO for the windows 7 beta version (June-July release i think)

What i want to know is how to install it on my external hard drive because i want to test its features and the like before i make the leap to upgrading to the new OS.
I loaded it with daemon tools lite but it automatically tries to install itself onto my C drive which i dont want at all. How do i direct it to install onto a drive i pick out for it?

thanks guys!

Not many computers can run an OS from an external drive. Its not easy to do

Windows is specifically designed not to boot from an external drive.

It can be done but is very complicated doubt if anyone has figured how to do it for windows 7 yet.

To continue if you do boot via USB it will be very slow due to the slow connection however if you have an e-sata connection then you should beable to install to the drive on the e-sata connection as if it was an internal drive.
