Hi I'm wanting to install a new Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty soundcard into my new PC. At the moment I'm using Windows XP home and onboard sound on my QC - Gigabyte N680iSLI-DQ6-1333fsb-DDR1066x4 SLI (Dual graphics) Motherboard .

What do I need to do to have the computer use my new card and not the motherboard onboard.

Thanks

Simply fit and install it in accordance with the instructions, it is pretty straight-forward. When done, your pc will recognise it.

PS - install the software first, then the card itself. Re-start your pc after the installation and fitting is done.

it is normal to disable on board sound in the bios before installing the card. check whether you install software for the card before or after shuting the pc down to install the card.

Is there no turning off onboard sound in the bios or whatever its called. I seem to remember I had to do something on my last pc
