Installing a new hard drive and partitioning

I'm about to install a new hard drive (40gb) with no OS on the PC. I have WinXP Pro and would like to know when attempting to install the OS from new will it give me an option to partition my new hard drive for NTFS that's if the BIOS can detect it? If not, how should I partition it from new?

Thanks in advance.

XP Home gives the option from the install screens so XP Pro should be similar. Basically, do it in NTFS (it may well be the default selection anyway), if it works (i.e. your BIOS is happy) then great. If not you may well have to install as FAT32, get your web connection up and running then update your BIOS. Then you can convert to NTFS from within windows. Hope this helps.
