Installing new hard drive

Am installing new hard drive in laptop to replace exsisting hard drive that is corrupt.

Is there anything i need to do before fitting hard drive and trying to install windows??

Possibly you may have to configure the bios settings to boot from cd first as opposed to the hdd.

Yes it is windows xp and i know how to boot from cd never put new hard drive in so just wanted to make sure i don't need to format or anything first

Xp should take care of this on install,choose NTFS and not FAT.
