Installing more memory on Dell Dimension

  daves67 20:14 27 Sep 2009

Hi everyone.

I have been told that I could do with expanding my memory to 1 gb ( currently 512 mb )so that my pc stops freezing/dragging & being generally unresponsive, but to be perfectly honest when it comes to the inside working of my pc I'm pretty clueless.

I have looked at the Dell forums/help pages but I am a little unclear as to the best way forward & what memory chip to buy. Do I add another 512mb or go for a 1gb chip, remove the 512mb already present & how easy is it to install?

Forgive me for my ignorance & I really do appreciate all your advice.

Go to the Crucial website click here and let it scan your system and tell you your options.

Crucial is one of the best and most respected sites on the web.

Firstly you should go to Crucial The Memory expert and do a scan of your computer

This will tell you the maximum amount of memory that your computer can handle

And the type of memory required

“Do I add another 512mb or go for a 1gb chip”

Get a 1Gb chip leaving the 512mb installed this will increase the memory to 1,512Gb
