Installing epson c60 causing major corruption?

I have been upgrading the operating system on a pc I built a couple of years ago from win 98se to XP HE.
I have installed all of the most up to drivers for everything and it will allow me to install an Epson scanner but as soon as I start to install the software for the Epson c60 printer, the whole thing dies on me. Roll back doesn’t seem to do anything and I have to try to re install files from the MS XP disc as something seems to be corrupted and you cant boot the system up properly (Although I can get into safe mode). I have looked on the internet but cannot find any relevant information. Any ideas anyone?

Bump means move the thread to top of the first page so other people can catch it and look at it and maybe provide an answer.

First we probably need to fix your XP instalation.
REpair XP
which basically says:-Type

sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and /)

in the run box, press enter and let system file checker find and replace missing / corrupt file in windows and explorer. You may be required to have your XP CD in the drive. (takes awhile)

Once XP repaired try reinstalling the software for your printer.

have you tryed to get xp to find the printer and install its own drivers,
you might be better going to click here

copy all above into google
for epson drivers and download the latest drivers and status monitor software
