Hi PPL.I have a mobo.with two sets of mem.slots.one X 2 SDRAM.and one x 2 ddr.I'm running SDRAM 512.now, but I want to run it in ddr.when I install 256 ddr.it won't bootup,it is an "ELITE K7S5A."I have gone into "BIOS"and clicked what I think is right,but,when I boot again as one has to,it won't fire,can anybody help please,thanks, GOBEEN

Have you removed the SDRAM? I think the board gives you the choice of using either, but not both at the same time. j.

i had a look at crucial ( knowing that u can't mix the two) saw that Elite isn't down as a compatible motherboard for DDR

go to click here and check the ammount and type of memory the mobo supports.this board is listed as revision K7S5A rev1.X/K7S5A rev3.X/K7S5A pro and K7S5A2.

Thanks suzie005, didn't think you could, but wasn't positive. huggyg71 your right 4 different models, gets a bit confusing! Powerless, Yep! had one myself until last year, then changed to the K7S6A model, reason being that the first version of K7S5A had a bit of trouble recognising my XP 1800 CPU. :o(

excuse me for asking but can sumbody tell me why the motherboard isn't down on crucial's list?

  Djohn 17:27 24 Aug 2003

They are, all four models are shown under the heading. ecs-elite. Regards. j.

HI PPL, I have just opened and read the post, the MOBO.I have does take DDR.it's a K7S5A.AND IV'E GOT THE BIBLE,oops, but it doesn't tell you why it wont boot with DDR.installed,I do know the two
cant be run together,if someone can help on this I'd be grateful,i'll try any idea, thank's GOBEEN.

on this page there are some bios that claim to fix "DDR hang during POST" click here

just had a look at click here though and it says you have"2 DDR DIMM sockets and 2 DIMM sockets support (can not be used simultaneously)
Two 184-pin DDR SDRAM (DDR200, DDR266) or
Two 168-pin 3.3V SDRAM (PC100, PC133)
Maximum: 1.0GB (DDR or SDRAM)"

is the memory in the correct slots?
