installing active x problem

  bob308w 11:36 31 Dec 2006

Some sites (this one included)give me the message " This site may need activex control from Adobe etc." when I try to download it, I get as far as "Do you want to run this etc". I press run, and nothing further happens. This site works OK without it, but other sites are blank, just showing a small grey icon with yellow, blue and green shapes in the top left hand coner and the "This site may need...etc" message. Is it my Firewall (Bullguard) preventing this from downloading? Normally when a download is prevented, it notifies me.

The chances are it Adobe Flash Player click here and untick the Yahoo Toolbar (unless you want it) and install Flash.

I don't have the Yahoo toolbar, and your click here does not work. Does that suggest other problems?

Does this link work? It's to hyperlinks not here

No that one does not work either. I've been to the Adobe site and cannot download the active x from there.

Sometimes to get a clean install of Flashplayer you have to uninstall the old one first using the Adobe uninstaller for the reasdons given on the Adobe site.

Copy and paste this into your address bar then remove the space after // I have added to stop it being a "click here" on this site to make it work. This is to uninstall
