Does any know if it is possible to install Access97 on to a PC that already has Office2003 installed on it?I have a compiled database that will only run on Access97, hence the problem.I have tried removing the newer version of Access and installing Access97 but it doesn't appear to install and reverts back to the newer version!
Have you tried to decompile the DB?
I wasn't aware you can decomile the db!It was written for us several years ago and the original source cannot be found. If we can it would be great, as we could update it to a newer version of Access.
Firstly, decompile the DB"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\msaccess.exe" "X:\YourDatabase.mdb" /decompileRun this from the command line. This is an undocumented switch, so keep a backup!Secondly, if sucessful, convert to Access 2003 and recompile. No guarantees, but it may get you out of a hole!!
Thanks! I'll give this try.
I was under the impression that Office 2003 was backwards compatible.i.e. you can open old version files with 2003 but not 2003 files with an older version.
Does anyone know if you can run Access97 on an XP machine?
In the past I have run the full office 97 install on XP, including access 97 with no problems, Whether it will happily co-exist with access 2003 I do not know.
When I start Access97 on the XP machine I get an error message stating that"A system error occurred, or there isn't enough free memory to start Microsoft Access. Close unneeded programs and try again."Any suggestions anyone? Thanks.
