Hi. Just installed a back-up internal HDD. 160Gb....Recog by disk management as 149.5Gb...where'd the remaining 10gigs go? Expect a few Mbs but not that much?
Yes that's about right in todays money
Thanks for reply. Where's the 10gigs go, may I ask?
conversions, muanfacturers count in tens and pcs count in base two.1000mb against 1024mb.
that up and it's 5+%??? Thought that it wasn't an incremental loss; rather a set-aside allocation, irrespective of size?
you might be a little bit out, my maxtor 160gb shows up as 152gb, thats 8gig or 5% as you say.So where did your other 2.5gig go?I dunno maybe someone else will help ya....
terendak_uk,I agree, I think it's a bit high.I've got a 160Gb disk, set into three partitions, and still have over 154Gb disk space.
It may be how it's setup
Perhaps I have to admit that when the thing was going "pear-shaped"...always a moment or so when it doesn't go as planned.....I prayed hard and promised 10Gbs of HDD space to ANY God who would help me..........;-)?
Thanks....what do you mean? I used disk management to initialise it as a primary.
Your only missing 2.5gig roughly, which file structure is it in, how did you format and partition it?
