I have installed XP Prof in place of XP home after having problems. Unfortunately I have installed XP Prof into D Drive which has left XP Home in C Drive. Now when I start my pc I am given 2 alternatives Start XP Home or XP Pro if I start XP Home I get the message windows is not set up. I want to know if its possible to stop XP home appearing at the start so that when I start my computer XP Prof is loaded automatically

Start by booting the system into Windows XP Pro.

Use My Computer to navigate to the C: drive and delete the folder that contains Windows XP home.

You will need to confirm that it's okay to delete read-only files, and executable files.

Select Run from the Start menu and type
press OK.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and click on the Check All Boot Paths button.
Your system will report that the path used to launch Windows XP Home is not valid and offer to remove it.
Click on Yes.
From now on, your system will boot directly to Windows XP.

With XP Prof working, go to the c: drive and delete the Home installation completely. Then go [Start], Run, type msconfig. go to the boot.ini tab and select check boot paths. It will find the Home version not there and offer to delete the option from the boot loader. accept this and reboot.
