I have an Acer 4150, kept getting blue screen of death from multiple corruptions / scans and now my hard disk (60GB Momentus 4200 60GB Ultra ATA ST960821A) has now died.

I have just purchased a new Seagate ST9120822AS 120GB 2.5" Momentus 5400 RPM 8MB cache ata100 hard disk from click here £52 and will be installing Microsoft XP Professional.

So I install new drive into existing caddy, ensure that the BIOS is configured to read the CD drive first, enter XP disk and away I go.

From reading this site I will also configure to NTFS istead of FAT32.

Will partition disk into 2 equal parts - is this reasonable?

Is there anything else I need to do? Never done this before!

All help / links gratefully received.

Once you have installed Windows, you may also need to install any drivers for sound, graphics and anything else on the motherboard. There may also be drivers for the keyboard and mouse. You can find all your drivers here click here
