I have a 40gb hd formatted to NTFS not fat32
Im trying to install win xp home on from win xp home cd (not a popy ) original cd full version.

it gets as far as copying all the files from cd then when reboot I get the message insert system disc ? press enter
when I reboot its just loading system files agian
where am I going wrong
Its just like going around in circles it wont boot to win set up any ideas
does the hd have to be set to master for it to work
as at the moment its set to slave does it matter.
slave or mater

It shouldn't matter if it's the only HD in the machine. Make sure your boot options are set to CD then HD in the BIOS.

FungusBoggieman,

are you leaving the PC to reboot on it's own, or, are you pressing a key to make it boot from CD again.?

CD 1st boot
HDD 2nd boot

DO NOT press any key when machine reboots after install instaed remove the CD.

If still fails to find HDD as system disk then reset BIOS to HDD 1st boot
