I have an Nvideo mx440 - agp8x grafix card with s-video output. I have tried to feed from a vhs recorder through a skart/s-video adapter using this s-video connecter to no avail. Am I doing something wrong or am I attempting the impossible? Is there a way to do what I want to do I need a tv card?

You will need some sort of capture card/device.

I use the Dazzle Fusion to capture to PC but it takes about 7 hours to to do a 3 hours VHS tape from start to finish, but I also have a standalone DVD recorder which transfers to DVD in real time (but you can't edit it).

Try some of these previous threads for more info.

As you say the s-video is an output.

you must have an input connection on your card to load video topc.

If you have no input you need a video capture card

Thanks PJ123 & Fingees.

I guess I'll just have to get a TV card

No, not a TV card. You need a capture card.
