Infected with bugbear/tarantos... what now?

  beastieboy 10:36 14 Jun 2003

Some time ago I was infected witht he bugbear/tarantos virus. Kaspersky managed to get rid of the actual file but I am still worried that it has infected other files on the system. How do I go about checking this - if there are any?

I was told safest would be to do a low-level format, how long would this take on a 40Gb hard drive?

Please can someone help

Many thanks in advance,

Scan for Viruses does not scan compressed files - is this something that I should be worried about when looking for virii?

Surely you have Anti Virus installed? Run a full scan of all files. AVG click here can scan compressed files and is free.

click here try Gladiator, a free scanner that does check compressed files. Doesn't appear to clash with other anti virus software

Does PC Cillin scan compressed files?
