using xp pro with incredimail as my defaul email client, everything has been fine until today, I have emails in my inbox but I am unable to view or open them, the view pane is gray, I have completed an error report, I have also run the repair option, upgraded, installed over its self, uninstalled then reinstalled but with the same results, my questions are
1) has anybody had this problem and how did you rectify it?
2) can I get the emails back and view them in outlook express?
3) what is the 3 letter suffix of incredimail so I can search for them on my pc if possible?,
I am unable to move them, forward them or do anything with them.
I can view messages I have in my sent and deleted folders no problem,
hope someone can help

further to the above, at the top of the preview page there is a message saying "no message selected", even though I am clicking on the message, it is almost as if the messages have been deleted

The following site is EXCELLENT for OE and IM problems. click here However, should you get no joy there, the following comments may help.

I use IM and I have not experienced this problem. If you have the benefit of an IMAP service or subscribe to an email service which holds a copy of you emails on the server, there shouldn't be a problem recovering your 'lost' mail. In any case, I would be tempted to totally uninstall IM using Add/Remove Programs followed by a fresh install. I suspect that you have installed a new version over the old which may (probably will) leave corrupted files. A fresh install should overcome that problem. IM is an insidious program with a natural reluctance to be removed...this adds to my supposition that mail files/profiles and the like will not be removed by the Add/Remove Programs route.

Hope that helps.

thanks dogbreath1, I will try an uninstall using add/remove in control panel, I used IM's own uninstall program, I am going to go through the site you sent and see if that can help, many thanks again

uninstalled and reinstalled and everything is fine except these 5 emails that when I click on says no file selected, can't seem to get rid of them, getting the properties box tells me they have a size there, (doesn't sound right sorry), eg, one has a volume of 9kb yet the preview pane says no files selected, have contacted the site you suggested dogbreath1 and waiting for a reply

just gone into email and find I can now delete these emails (couldn't 2 mins ago!)and I am now able to view what I believe is html, sorry not my strong point, for example part of one email is as follows:
<p> </p>
<p>With a large storage capacity and enhancements to enable faster data access and better power management, the Hitachi Deskstar 7K series of 3.5” hard drives are perfect for storage upgrades, digital video recorders, PC gaming, industrial automation and more.</p>
<p> </p>
<div class="clear"></div>
<div class="featureText visualIEFloatFix"> <a href="click here" title="250GB 3.5" Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 ATA HardDrive" target="_blank"><img src="click here" alt="250GB 3.5" Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 ATA HardDrive" width="110" height="112" border="0" align="left" style="margin:5px;border:1px solid #666666;" /></a>
<h3><a href="click here" title="250GB 3.5" Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 ATA HardDrive"

how can I view these as they were originally sent?

Launch IM>Tools>Options>Security Tab>External Image Settings>Uncheck Block External Images/Warn Me About External Images.

This enables html to be rendered in IM, but the code you pasted into your post seems to be corrupted.
