Increased Security Alert messages since XP updates

  Dipso 21:37 14 Oct 2004

I'm sorry if anyone has already posted about this but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Since I downloaded Windows updates KB834707 and 840987 on Tuesday, I am being inundated by Security Alerts, "You are about to view pages over a secure internet connection. Any information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed by anyone else on the web" and on signing out "You are about to leave a secure internet connection. It will be possible for others to view information you send. Do you want to continue?" This is on sites I regularly visit for example Ebay and I did not get these messages before.

Has anyone else noticed this? It is becoming annoying already!

BTW, I am running XP.

Isn't there a box to tick along the lines of "Do not show this message again"?

Ahem <blushes>....yes, as a matter of fact there is and strangely enough the messages stop appearing when I check the box.

I get so used to clicking OK without actually reading the messages that I hadn't realised that. Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me. I hope this thread disappears quickly as I feel a bit daft now!

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
