hi there. I am a firm believer that if it aint broke dont try to fix it but need a bit of help with my wireless security.

I have a netgear 824 which is running great,it is protected by wpa/psk and a long secure password. i have seen about turning off ssid or changing network name anyway and want to know if i can do all this without hard wiring again as the pc is at the other end of the house now. i know about logging into routerlogin.net and have done so but scared to change any settings in case it all stops working and i have to set it up by wire again. if so is there anything more i can do to ensure security?

thanks

I would not recomend turning off SSID but changing the network name yes as it does not identify the make and model of router when you do this and if you choose something that only you would reconise then others around will not be able to identify that it yours.

Yes you can do this wirelessly without hardwireing.
