Importing OE and IE settings to new XP PC

How do you import Outlook Express and Internet Explorer settings (Address Book / Accounts / Favourites etc..) to a XP Pro PC from a W2K PC. I've done it previously but don't remember how.

Back up and recover Outlook Express

Search your old computer for files ending .dbx. These are your emails. There should be Inbox.dbx, Outbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx etc. There must also be Folders.dbx, this is the data telling OE how the emails are compressed. Save all these dbx files, then you can either import them into OE on your new computer, or overwrite the files of the same name in the new computer. Look for a file called (name).wab, this is your address book, and a folder called Favorites. Save these and either import or overwrite to transfer them.

Copy favourites folder from win2k
replace in c:\docs and settings\your logon\

on XP which allowed you to transfer everything onto a floppy and copy into the new PC. Can't find it.

The Wizard you want is the 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard'.

Click Start; All Programs; Accessories; System Tools and you'll find it there.

But if you are hoping to transfer "everything" using a floppy, I'll think you'll be somewhat disappointed!

No problems with using a 128mb memory stick.
