Importing IE Favourites into Firefox Bookmarks

  Jayar 19:18 31 May 2010

I have very recently decided to have a look at Firefox after years of sticking religiously to IE. I have installed V 3.6.4 on an old PC using WinXP Pro, and although a lot of add-ons and settings are a mystery right now, so far I have been impressed with most of its performance.

One thing I do not like though, is that when I imported my Favourites from my laptop/IE8, it added the file extension .url to all of them. I have found it possible to manually delete this unnecessary and (to me) annoying and useless information one by one, but I have dozens of Bookmarks making this impractical. I have searched Options and cannot see a way of suppressing this, and do not find this on forums either (there is information about suppressing a .url address intoto, but I see nothing on just getting rid of the .url extension from all of my Bookmarks).

A solution to do this in bulk would be appreciated.
