I'm sure I'm overheating

  mondi 16:45 02 Nov 2003

I am having a nightmare with my PC crashing all the time. I start up and it's running fine until I hear a soft "tick" coming from inside the machine. As soon as this happens the screen freezes, There are then a couple more "ticks" and the blue screen of death appears.

The machine runs a lot longer when I take the side panel off - hence my felling that it is an overheating problem.

My question is this, how do I find out what is overheating? I understand that there can be a lot of things that overheat and don't want to try "fixing" something that has nothing wrong with it.

Thanks in advance for helping a frustrated newbie.

Try Motherboard Monitor click here

It will display your CPU temp, fan speeds etc.
