iexplore.exe always 95%ish CPU when not being used

Hello i have a problem with my iexplore.exe.

My computer has been running slow recently so i opened my task manager and to my amazement iexplore.exe was at 95% CPU and 250000k mem usage and internet explorer wasnt even open!

I tried ending this process but it kept coming back within about 30 seconds.

I managed to get my pc to normal speed by exiting the process tree but when i restart my computer it goes back to its old ways.

I was wondering if there could be any reason for this? (i've run NOD32 and noadware and removed any infections)

XP Home SP2
Intel celeron 2.5GhZ
768mb RAM

Try (in i.explorer)>tools>internet options>advanced>reset as it could be related to a java add-on.
If you prefer just go tools>manage add-ons and disable java to see if it makes a difference as resetting will remove all add-ons until you need them again.

Also worth scanning for spyware.

Do you have your Anti-Virus set to run at start up or maybe Spyware Doctor installed.

Ignore that last one.It would show you if you were using one of those.

Do you get IE popups with the letters CiD in the title bar?

I think advanced and press reset is your best bet.
