Iexplore has caused an error

My computer has lately become very unstable and often freezes. When I try to log onto the internet (bt yahoo) I have to be very quick to select something such as an email message as soon as the sidebar appears. If I don't do this an error message appears 'Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL.' Once this message has appears I have to log off and try again. I get lots of other error messages and sometimes have difficulty shutting my computer down. I use a 1ghz compaq with windows ME. I have 640 meg RAM.
Any suggestions anyone.

You may have a virus or trojan. Any Kaaza involvement?

There are so many things that could be the problem a good 'house cleaning' would be a start. Such things as running:(in no particular order)

1. IE repair tool.

2. Adaware

3. Spybot

4. System file checker

5. Defrag

6. Cleaning Temp Internet Files

7. Anti Virus

8. Scandisk

9. Regseeker (or similar)

This would give you a reasonable platform to feel a certain level of assurance that your system is free from much of the evil that causes the sort of problems you are experiencing
