IE8 with OS Vista

I said in an earlier thread I wanted to switch off or delete IE8 as its to slow.
I relise now I am stuck with IE8 regardles so reparing it seems logical.

If I restore IE down and then try to move the whole page around the screen it cant keep up with the mouse cursor it jerks around playing catch-up.
Dose this help or give any clues to whats bugging it.
Firefox or Opera stay with the cursor no problem.
Opera is a back up for now.

There is no option in the view installed updates and also no c:\windows\ie8\spuist\ folder to be found I tried a search but that came back with no results.
IE is not known as a Program.
I have found out that when IE8 was first put on the LT it should come with IE7 also.
I cant download a new instalation as that come s back with I have a newer version.
IE is not set as default browser.
In windows feature there is no mention of IE8.

I think you have something else going on tbh.
I find IE8 + Vista on a 3year old notebook rapid.
Just a thought, are you on the balanced or hi performance power plans and NOT power saver. Worth opening Vistas performance and reliability monitor and looking at the graph for CPU to make sure it can run to 100% when needed. With it just idling on a web page what is the CPU running at in the background? Anything using a lot of resources that shouldn't be?
Might be worth looking what add ons are showing on the IE8 toolbar... tools, manage add ons.

OK I am now running IE7 but its no different to IE8 its slow at everything menu bar is a real drag to open as is the page.
I have updated IE7 as requested and now its requesting updates for IE8.
In Help About Internet it shows IE7 explorer
From what I have read IE8 is part of the OS Vista.
I have disabled all but important add.
Hi Performance is set.

Reliability Performance Normal 31% load?

  mooly 17:45 27 Sep 2009

Well something is going on for sure.
31% sounds a bit high, for comparison with this page displayed my perf monitor shows CPU <6% and HDD activity virtually non existant often below 1kb/sec.
If you expand the CPU tab in perf monitor what's at the top of the list. Open perf monitor while IE8 is open and running. Is your HDD constantly being accessed while IE8 is running slow, again look at the graphs and expand the tabs.
IE7 was included with Vista from the outset. If you bought a laptop now with Vista preinstalled would it have IE7 or IE8? Don't know :)
What security are you running ?

My laptop came with Vista and yes Buying a laptop now would have IE8 with IE7 atached from what I have read.

I have re-run the OS Vista with the disks that came with the LT but not a compleat install.

Its made no difference to IE its as it was slow and jerky.

In Computer Managment (Tab Resource over view) CPU is between 2 & 5%. average 1.60.

I see versions 6 7 8 of IE were on I had no idea.

I Bought this LT in December 08

So has it always been slow like this with IE7/8 etc from brand new.

Can you do a clean factory reinstall of Vista from either a hidden partition on the hdd or from your discs. I think that's going to be the best bet tbh. What's the laptop ?

  Ex plorer 10:24 28 Sep 2009

Samsung R610,
I have reloaded IE8 and its a lot better its the menu bar that’s no use.
I have customised IE from the Tools, Toolbar, Customise, This gives most of the menu tool Bar choices and its fast and responsive
To be honest I don’t know if it’s always been as bad as it is.
I can do a factory install I need to back up first on my usb drive.
I don’t have time to do it today but I will leave this thread open until it’s solved.
Thanks Marg7 and mooly for your help on this its fully appreciated if you have any other comments suggestions I will follow up.
