ie8 hijacked?

Using ie8 & vista HP.
The usual google search lists various sites but when clicked on it goes elsewhere. i.e. click on pc advisor and it goes to e-bay.
I think ie8 has been hijacked, is there a simple fix?
Would it be easier to download another browser (firefox) then unistall ie8 and then reinstall ie8?

Launch IE - go to Tools and then internet options - From there hit the advanced tab and click the reset button on the bottom - this resets your history, any saved passwords, any add-ins, and the cache memory, and then resets IE to the factory settings. it tends to fix a LOT of problems
