IE7 "Webpage cannot be displayed"

IE7 Explorer downloaded and connected to Internet but keep getting "Webpage cannot be displayed"....uninstalled IE7 back to IE6 and now getting same message.
DID NOT have this problem before IE7 downloaded via Windows Update.
I have tried the Disgnostic Tool and followed instructions but still get same problem.
Any help please

If you have windows defender running, turn it off then see if IE6 works,

If that does not work ,Try turning your Firewall off, then try it,If that doesn't work could be a cookie problem,Only other thing you were to do before downloading IE7, Was to up-date any extra toolbars that you have on there,Or maybe you are running Norton Internet Security,there has been a few problems with conflicts between some of the programs,
