IE7 not closing down with tabs

  Willow12 13:27 20 May 2009

Whenever I have 2 tabs open on an IE page and close them down using the red X I get the normal question 'close all tabs'. When I select 'yes' it closes the page I am on and opens a new IE7 window along with multiple tabs. The tabs just keep increasing in number and will not shut down. I can eventually shut it down in Task Manager but this tends to take 5-10 minutes before it will successfully 'end program'.

Even once the page is closed down very often a new one opens up immediately and we start the process again.

I have run scans with A-Squared and Avast anti-virus but nothing comes up.

I use XP Home.

try running internet explorer with no add ons and see if it still happens

click here is a good guide on how to refresh IE7, how to run it without add-ons and generally get it fixed if it has gone wrong after a crash.

Thanks all. I have turned it off for now but will check your link as well chub_tor as I have several problems with IE7 that this might fix.

Try IE8 download from Microsoft website. Works for me.
If it dont, uninstall takes you back to IE7.
