IE7 and Favourites

WinXP IE7 Dial-up 56k net connection.
A friend has problems since d/l and installing IE7. Basically it's mega slow to load web pages and often times out before doing so. I have the PC here to work on later. Having read the threads I have a good idea what to do but I was wondering if by getting rid of IE7 the owners Favourites will go with it?
I know I can find them and back them up but a simple yes/no answer would save a bit of time. Thanks.

The favorites will be retained if you remove Windows Internet Explorer 7 via Control Panel > Add or Remove programs.

However, before doing that you might want to turn off the phishing filter and see if that helps.
