How can I prevent inbox messages (if last in, from opening and allowing viruses in, because the last message is always opened? Also How can I delete them without opening them on selection?

View, layout and un-tick preview plane will stop the mail from opening, is this what you mean?

spikeychris is correct, but there seems to be one little 'gotcha' - you have to be viewing the Inbox in order to disable the Preview pane (which seems a bit daft to me!).

You can also use a program such as MailWasher, which allows you to preview and delete messages while they are still on your ISP's mail server, before they are downloaded.

Neither of the above options are a suitable substitute for a good anti-virus program like Norton.

click here for a useful selection of anti virus tools, I particularly like avast & ScripTrap.
