IE6 - problems connecting to secure sites

Hi all.

I seem to have a problem connecting to secure sites. Always just ends up as 'Page cannot be displayed'. Have checked connections settings under advanced and SSL 2.0 / SSL 3.0 & TLS 1.0 are all selected. The system is running on 128 bit cipher setting.

The only way round the problem is, after clicking on the link (normally a log-in section)I manually remove the 's' from the address so that it reads "http:" rather than "https:".
Probably something really simple but at the moment I can't see the wood for the trees!!!

Any ideas appreciated.

Have a look at Help then About and check you have cipher 128 strength; if you've upgraded IE it sometimes stays at 40 bit and won't access sites. The patch is on the Microsoft site.

It may be your firewall, try disabling it temporaly and see if you can get in.

I have the same problem. I have tried all the suggested solutions above and none work

Thanks Guys.
I had already checked the Cipher Strength was 128-bit. I downloaded Zone Alarm when my 'free period' of Norton Firewall ran out. It appears that Norton FW was still running in the background. I thought I had disabled it. Just removed it, re-booted and everything seems to work fine.

Cheers
